ABOUT THE BLOG

Because sometimes daily life just doesn't have enough color: Twelve months. Twelve color families. Lots of images—sometimes linked in thematic "riffs," sometimes just individually delightful. Lots of great image-makers. All vintage photographs and ephemera used in the blog are in the public domain. All other images are used either with permission of the artist or through Creative Commons license unless otherwise identified. Please click through to the original image source if you wish to use any of these images in your own work, and note that I may have cropped or color-adjusted images as permitted by license. Let's all be careful, because one of the things daily life does have enough of is the misappropriation of digital imagery.

Though I'm a writer by profession, my life has been shaped by visual images as much as words. From the ones the "real world" offers in such bewildering abundance, to the equally abundant trove of images in the digital world, to the art found in galleries and museums, in studios and on the streets....they move and confuse, inspire and provoke and amuse me. Enjoy!
